
Save the Date: 15 – 17 of June "2012 Ratiu Friends and Family Weekend"
Save the Date! Now in its 6th consecutive year, the 2012 Ratiu Friends and Family Weekend takes place June 15th through the 17th. The three-day program includes project highlights and accomplishments, the annual CRD Public Talk, and new this year, an introduction to the "New Faces in Romanian democracy". A special fund-raising, "Dinner in the Forest", will be held in support of CRD's program for assisting human trafficking survivors.

Honoring the Memory of Ion Ratiu
One of the strongest voices of the Romanian exile, Ion Ratiu, returned to Romania to participate in the rebuilding of the Romanian society and submit his candidacy for the presidential elections. "The best president Romania never had", as he is often remembered in Romania today, represented his hometown constituency in the Parliament and was an important contributor to the building of a free Romanian press. His legacy lives on through the numerous projects and programs the Ratiu Foundation supports and implements in Romania and abroad.

The United States is deeply concerned by continuing incidents of violence in Bahrain between police and demonstrators. Officials from the United States Embassy in Manama met today with human rights activist Nabeel Rajab, who was injured during a demonstration on Friday; they also spoke with senior Bahraini government officials regarding the incident.Read more...
The Ratiu Center for Democracy is a non-profit organization which seeks to further the ideals of the late Ion Ratiu, a life-long advocate for democracy. The Center's mission is to encourage non-partisan promotion of the values and behaviors associated with democracy. This mission is accomplished through a wide range of activities at local, national and international levels.
Launched in July 2004, the Ratiu Center for Democracy operates some 20 not-for-profit programs annually in Romania and abroad. With initial support provided by leading faculty members at Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania (founded 1581) and the trustees of the Ratiu Family Foundation, London, United Kingdom (founded 1979), The Ratiu Center for Democracy is a a member of:
